In collaboration with Akamai, Forescout, Palo Alto Networks, Siemens and Xage Security, the company is integrating accelerated computing and artificial intelligence into operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) environments that power energy, manufacturing, transportation and utilities.
As digitalization expands and OT systems increasingly connect to enterprise networks and the cloud, their capabilities grow — but so does their attack surface. Unlike traditional IT systems, OT environments control real-world physical processes, where cyber incidents can immediately impact safety, availability and operational continuity.
At the core of this transformation is the NVIDIA BlueField DPU, which runs security services directly on dedicated hardware, isolating protection from operational workloads. This approach enables inspection and policy enforcement at the infrastructure level without introducing latency or disrupting time-sensitive industrial processes.
The proposed architecture combines edge-level enforcement with centralized AI-driven intelligence. OT data generated at the edge is sent to AI factories for large-scale analysis, identifying patterns, anomalies and emerging threats. Meanwhile, protection is enforced locally, creating a coordinated and resilient distributed defense model.
Companies like Forescout and Xage are extending Zero Trust principles into OT environments, while Siemens and Palo Alto Networks embed security directly into industrial automation platforms aligned with standards such as IEC 62443. Akamai enables agentless segmentation for legacy OT systems, removing compatibility barriers common in critical infrastructure.
